Sash Window Repair

Sash windows could be out of balance or even break. Pam searches the internet for salvaged waving glass, wavy and keeps an eye out for the sash weights that are discarded, made of metal. She then hunts for replacements in the form of washers or nuts to help balance her window.

Pam will lay each pan by putting a rope of glazing material into the rabbet groove or pocket around the opening. This reduces drafts and reduce the cost of heat loss.

Sticking Sashes

It's a nightmare when double-hung windows get stuck. They'll rattle in the event of a storm and you'll lose your view. On the other side, a window that's too loose will let external noise and air in and your energy bills could increase. Both scenarios are not ideal, but both could be addressed with the appropriate tools and determination.

A common problem with old windows with weighted sash is that paint could get sucked into the channels that they slide over, causing them blockage. Most of these problems can be resolved by cleaning and oiling the tracks.
