The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs range of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This wet/dry model includes the updated AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system from Ecovacs, which provides enhanced mapping and obstruction-free operation. It uses dual laser LiDAR that is similar to that found in self-driving vehicles. It can scan an area up to 32 feet by 360 degrees. This translates to more accurate mapping and faster response times and better cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with a rotating mopping mat made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard spots than conventional mopping. In my testing, the X2 Omni took just over an hour to clean its pad before getting to work. I also noticed that it was much more accurate than the previous models, which were able to follow a grid-like route around rooms. It was able to navigate around corners and edges of my rooms and also make "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station on a regular basis to empty the trash bin and wash the mop with hot water prior to starting another clean-up job.

The X2 Omni is just as easy to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. Snap the dock into position then plug it in and pair it with your WiFi network at home. It takes just a few minutes. Then, you can launch the app to begin your first cleaning task. I was able to modify my floor plan in about 15 minutes. This included creating restricted areas for mopping and sweeping as well as rearranging the positioning of furniture on the wall and more. The X2 Omni was impressive in my tests. It scored well in the areas of pet hair removal as well as debris removal. It also achieved near-perfect results in edge and crevices cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

It did a great job of picking up pet hair from floors that were bare however, and in our tests it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of cat litter, which is higher than any of the most powerful robots we've examined.

While it's controllable via the app and the app, the X8 Hybrid also comes with a series of physical buttons on its base that let you select a cleaning mode, and turn the robot on/off. These buttons can be used to set up zones that are not allowed to be visited and to access real-time maps. It's a bit chatty and will let you know what it's going to do next ("start cleaning") or alert you that something is wrong (it isn't able to charge, for instance).

4. ILIFE A4s

This advanced model collects pet hair, kibble, and other particles with top-quality effectiveness and effortlessly moves around furniture legs. It comes with a feature set that is impressive, including two cleaning modes and an automatic docking station and a real-time obstacle avoidance system. The Wi-Fi enabled device is controlled best through the Neato App where cleaning schedules are set and maintenance needs are monitored. The X2 Omni is a great option for homes that have a mixture of carpet and hard floors. However, it will need some planning in advance to avoid getting caught on electrical cables, toys or other unexpected obstructions.

In our test of hardwood floors and kibble the robot performed very well and was able to pick up everything from one grain of rice up to many pieces of dog food in one go. It had some trouble transitioning to rugs, however, in general, this vacuum cleaner is great for rooms that have flooring of all kinds and a variety of pets.

The A4s Pro is a bit expensive however it's a great purchase for those who want to be able to leave the house hands-free so they can take on other tasks or perform household chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to get rid of difficult dirt or spills. This budget-friendly model from a well-known brand is the cheapest robot we've tested to date and offers an outstanding value for cost. The basic navigation system is based on a basic random pathing algorithm and it's not equipped to map rooms. This is why it's less effective as other models on this list. However, it's still able to get under furniture and into corners and its mopping mode worked very well in our testing it picked up pet hair and other debris with ease.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't quite as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it is superior in general at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more thoroughly and robot vacuum mops does a good job on carpets with low pile, and it makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and has a suite of advanced automation features, including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to suspend and restart cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes that have pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates knots and holds up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, allergens and dander.

This robot vacuum feels solid and well-constructed, and it comes with an app for smartphones that lets you change the settings of your vacuum and schedule cleaning times in advance. The app lets you check the remaining battery life of the iQ and receive push notifications in the event of any problems during a cleaning session. You can utilize your voice to control it with an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you don't have either devices, you can mark areas with physical boundary marker strips.

The iQ excels for cleaning floors that aren't clean, and does well on carpets that are sagging and low-pile. However it doesn't provide the same level of autonomy as our top picks. It's also expensive and its ongoing expenses can add up over time.
